Traditional desert lifestyle experience
I was in Dubai on a business trip and wanted to see a more traditional aspect of the desert lifestyle. The staff of the Evening Desert Safari Dubai picked me up from my hotel and drove me to the Al Khayma desert camp. There I got to ride a camel, go to see a spectacular desert sunset, smoke some shisha, and eat a delicious Arabic barbecue. Later, there was a dance performance and an amazing fire show. After the program was finished, they drove me back to my hotel. I highly recommend this to anyone who visits Dubai!
An evening in a visually stunning desert
The Dubai desert is stunning! I captured many awesome pictures on my camera. Our safari driver even took us on a bit of dune bashing, which was really exciting! In the camp, there are a lot of things to do, so I got an amazing henna tattoo on my hands. I enjoyed a delicious vegetarian dinner, and there was a dance performance. All in all, I spent a wonderful evening in the desert!

EXQUISITE ART OF THE HENNA TATTOO
During the Evening Desert Safari Dubai experience, you'll have the chance to decorate your hands and feet with an exquisite henna tattoo. Henna tattooing is a traditional Arabic body art technique. It uses the dried powder of the henna plant, which produces red, orange, and brown coloration. Tattooing hands and feet with henna pigment is a part of Arabic tradition. It symbolizes good health and prosperity in marriage and is used primarily by women. Also, don't worry, this is not a permanent tattoo, as it usually starts to fade after a couple of days.
ENJOY A CAMEL RIDE
As a part of the Evening Desert Safari Dubai experience, you'll be able to enjoy a camel ride. Often called the „ships of the desert“, camels were used for transporting cargo across the vast expanse of the Arabian desert. Did you know that their humps are not actually filled with water? It is used to store fat, which gives camels a necessary energy reserve. In fact, their bodies have several adaptations that enable them to bear the intense heat. For example, they can survive without water for 10–15 days! More facts like this, you'll be able to hear on an Evening Desert Safari Dubai Tour.
AUTHENTIC REGIONAL CUISINES AND A BBQ DINNER
Prepare to please your taste buds and try delicacies from traditional Arabic, Emirati, and Moroccan cuisines! The buffet food is prepared daily by our Michelin-Bib-Gourmand-awarded Al Khayma Heritage Restaurant. Apart from delicious BBQ, there are plenty of options for vegetarians as well. THE MYSTICAL TANOURA DANCE
To finish the Evening Desert Safari Dubai tour in the best way, enjoy a dance performance. The Tanoura dance, with its whirling and vibrant colors, will surely capture your attention. The artists train hard to complete continuous whirling without being dizzy. But how do they manage to do that? It is said that the trick is to turn anti-clockwise. By doing this, they are turning against the blood circulation and, therefore, reducing the dizziness. The Tanoura dance is followed by a captivating fire show, and we're sure you'll enjoy it! After the entertainment, our chauffeurs will drive you back to your hotel.

Falconry - a tradition that spans millenniums
As you explore the Al Khayma Desert Camp, you will notice a falconer with a falcon on his hand. If you so choose, you may hold the falcon in your own hand and take pictures. The history of falconry on the Arabian Peninsula is fascinating. There is evidence that falcons were domesticated some 6000 years ago. Hunting with falcons is even mentioned in the Epic of Gilgamesh! Traditionally, it was practiced by the Bedouin and used primarily for hunting small game such as hares and migratory birds. Having this food source was essential in the harsh climate of the desert. This is the reason why falcons are so cherished in the Arabic tradition.
Even today, they are regarded as a status symbol. A well-trained falcon can easily cost more than a hundred thousand dollars! If you decide to take pictures or hold a falcon in your hand, you will notice that they are blindfolded. This is for their own protection. As they are not accustomed to sudden movements and changes in light, if they startle, they can easily hurt themselves. However, when they're unable to see, they think they're safe, and this calms them down.
Our falconers take great care of these incredible creatures, and we're proud to show you this part of our culture and heritage. We hope you have a great time during the Evening Desert Safari Dubai experience!
